There is NO additional fee for any of the clinics. 
Please make sure to register for the clinics you plan to attend.

 

Sunday July 18, 2010

9:00 AM – 11:30 AM Coaches/Parent Coaches Track (Wheelchair) & Field (Wheelchair & Ambulatory) Clinic at Deerfield HS:  This clinic will be broken into 3 sessions and attendees must choose which session they go to.  There will be a classroom and practical component to all three sessions.  Wheelchair Track will be run by Adam Bleakney & Jessica Galli, Ambulatory Field will be run by Cathy Sellers and Wheelchair Field by Larry Hughes.  Pam Carey and Phil Galli will be heading up and organizing this clinic.  It will be very valuable for coaches of all levels as well as for those parents who coach or assist in coaching their own child or others.

 

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Hand Cycling/Tandem Cycling Clinic at Deerfield HS: This clinic is open to any athlete who is interested in trying out and seeing the various pieces of adaptive cycling equipment available.  Come out and learn to ride or get tips on how to improve your riding as well as the opportunities available in the sport of cycling.  This clinic will be run by Keri Schindler of GLASA, Joel Berman of Adaptive Adventures, Stephen Thordarson USA Cycling – Category 1 Coach.

 

Monday July 19, 2010

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM SCUBA Clinic at Hyatt Hotel: Come watch some videos and learn about Stay-Focused SCUBA program.  This clinic will be run by Roger Muller, the Executive Director of Stay-Focused.  This will not be a pool experience but you can find out all that SCUBA has to offer and meet some past participants and learn about the exciting places they have been diving.

 

Thursday July 22, 2010

3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Rock Climbing Clinic at Lake Forest HS: Come check out your climbing skills or overcome your fear of heights at the indoor climbing wall.  This clinic will run simultaneously to 3 x 3 basketball in the same gym.  It is totally safe and really fun!  This clinic will be run by Keri Schindler of GLASA and Anjali Forber-Pratt of the University of Illinois.  *DISCLAIMER: if you have never climbed before or have not climbed in a long time, you may be sore.  Be sure you check with your coach before climbing!

 

Friday July 23, 2010

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM Ambulatory Soccer Clinic at Deerfield HS: This clinic is for all athletes with a physical disability who ambulate with or without assistive devices.  Soccer is a great sport and we hope that you will come check it out.  Scott Dameron from National Sports Center for the Disabled will be running this clinic.  A player from the Chicago Red Stars Professional Women's Soccer team is tentatively scheduled to be on hand.

 

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM Judo Clinic at Deerfield HS: Brett Wolf of Menomonee Judo Club along with some of his internationally ranked Judo athletes will teach you all about the sport of Judo.  Judo is a Paralympic sport for those with visual impairments but this clinic is open to those with physical and visual disabilities.

 

Saturday July 24, 2010

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Kayaking Clinic at Skokie Lagoons: Join us out on the water for an afternoon of kayaking around beautiful Skokie Lagoons.  This clinic will be run by Keri Schindler of GLASA and Joel Berman of Adaptive Adventures.  We will have both single and tandem boats on hand along with various adaptations for those who need it.  Basic paddling skills will be taught.  Priority will be given to NJDC athletes, but if there are enough boats, parents and siblings can join as well.
